Over the past several years, IntoActions has designed and developed online learning environments for programs that serve very different audiences — from banking professionals in Zambia strengthening their creative skills and building an innovative culture to K–8 bilingual educators improving their classroom practice across California and New Mexico.
Banking on Change: Building an Innovation Culture | Santa Clara University
IntoActions led the design, development, and ongoing management of the online learning experience for Banking on Change: Building an Innovative Culture, an online course offered by the Leavey Executive Center at Santa Clara University. The course content was developed by Professor Nydia MacGregor at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
The three-module program introduces working professionals to the foundations of innovative culture: what innovation actually is, how organizational culture enables or kills it, and what concrete actions every employee can take to contribute.
IntoActions’ design focused on turning the content into a clear and engaging online experience. Each module was developed with a consistent structure, accessible page layouts, practical examples, reflection prompts, and activities that helped participants connect the course material to their own work environment.
BBILY: Bilingual/Biliterate Instruction for Bilingual Youth | University of California at Davis
IntoActions also designed and developed the online learning environment for BBILY — Bilingual/Biliterate Instruction for Bilingual Youth — a professional development initiative funded by a $2.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition.
The project supports K–8 bilingual educators across California and New Mexico through online professional development in Spanish. Now in its fifth and final year, the program has reached more than 1,000 teachers.
Prof. Claudia Rodriguez-Mojica, Principal Investigator (PI) of the project and Professor at the School of Education at the University of California at Davis, and her Co-PIs Dr. Allison Briceño (San José State University) and Dr. Kathleen Jablon Stoehr (Santa Clara University) created the content for the 60-hour online professional development series. The program focuses on approaches such as translanguaging, which encourages students to draw on their full linguistic knowledge as they learn course content.
Using the Canvas Learning Management System and DesignPLUS to Support Better Learning
For both projects, IntoActions used Canvas as the learning management system and DesignPLUS to create a more consistent, accessible, and visually engaging course experience.
Canvas provided the core learning environment. DesignPLUS helped us build stronger pages inside that environment — with reusable layouts, clearer module structures, better navigation, and accessible design patterns that could be used across the course.
